Is It OK To Lie To Mom And Dad? Truth's Told And More1

In this episode of Eldercare Success, I address one of the more challenging issues you’ll have as a caregiver – “is it ever okay to lie to an elderly parent?”  This is a tough question, and you'll see it's trickier than you might first think. A clear 'yes' or 'no' just doesn't fit here. It’s important to remember that our elderly parents are special and unique.  So, with each twist and turn, your response will likely shift too.

As one of the most googled queries by caregivers, lying to a parent with dementia isn't a conundrum exclusive to family caregivers. Even medical professionals don’t always know how to respond well to this issue.

Tune in as I share my own experiences with Mom, who had dementia, and Dad who didn’t. Each response to the twist and turns in “Should I lie, or gloss over the truth” brought another challenge.  I hope this episode helps you with your own caregiving journey.

Remember, every day counts!
